Argentina's foreign trade splits into two main flows: agro-industrial bulk cargo, shipped mainly through the Greater Rosario area on the Paraná River, and containers, concentrated at the metropolitan ports of Buenos Aires and Dock Sud.
Main seaports
- Port of Buenos Aires
- Dock Sud
- Greater Rosario (terminals on the Paraná River)
- Zárate
- Bahía Blanca
Cargo airports
- Ministro Pistarini International Airport, Ezeiza (Buenos Aires)
Free zones and special regimes
Free zones are governed by Law 24,331; the La Plata Free Zone, in Ensenada, is the most active in the country.
Good to know
- Since October 2024, ARCA has replaced AFIP and brings together the General Tax Directorate and the General Customs Directorate.
- The ports of Buenos Aires and Dock Sud handle more than 90% of the containers moved through Buenos Aires province ports.
- Electronic invoicing through ARCA is the rule for VAT-registered taxpayers, exempt taxpayers and monotributistas, and in 2026 ARCA extended the obligation to new taxpayer groups.
